Wharfedale WH-DFS Surround Speaker

The Wharfedale WH-DFS is designed to be unobtrusive and elegant, yet without any compromise in performance, the Wharfedale WH-DFS Diffuse surround speaker is the ideal solution for multi-functional rooms and lounges with Home Cinema or multi-function systems. Using the same arrangement of drive units as the larger models, which are used in movie theatres and halls, the Wharfedale WH-DFS produces the same direct and ambient sound fields, yet are lighter and smaller, finished with a non-removable black cloth grille, making them ideal for home surround.

DFS stands for Diffuse Field Surround, an ideal for the reproduction of rear surround effects in a bipolar speaker specifically designed and engineered for rear or sidewall mounting. It produces both ambient and direct sound for accurate stereo rear effects. A good rear sound requires both ambient sound and pinpoint stereo imaging. With the Wharfedale DFS speaker, you can recreate a convincing and realistic rear sound field using a single pair of speakers.

The profiled baffle of the Wharfedale WH-DFS provides exceptional dispersion characteristics for an open and revealing sound, while the extruded triangular cross-section is essential for the acoustic nature of the rear sound field.

Tonal matching of a Home Cinema is achieved by using the KEVLAR cones with KEVLAR or carbon-based front speakers, whilst the polypropylene version is more appropriate for other cone materials such as paper/pulp-based cones, or indeed, other polypropylene-based models.

Although designed to be wall-mounted, these DFS Speakers can also be shelf or stand-mounted. The badge can easily be rotated to match the orientation of the speaker wherever you choose to locate it.
