The Teac AI-101DA represents the future generation of compact hi-fi. In addition to providing quality amplification, there’s a built-in USB, digital inputs and Bluetooth connectivity. Combined with a top-grade Burr-Brown DAC and aptX codec for Bluetooth streaming, the AI-101DA is ready to deliver today’s digital sources with excellent clarity.
The versatile inputs make the 101 suitable for home hi-fi, desktop audio and stereo AV applications. The compact aluminum case with Teac’s iconic side guard bars can be oriented either horizontally or vertically for easy placement. The power supply is integrated, so unlike some other compact models, there’s no external “power brick” taking up extra space.
Teac have also included some clever DSP technology under the hood, they call “HR Loudness,” which maximizes sound performance as well as produces their own audio playback software for Windows and Mac, which removes much of the complexity of high-resolution audio playback you might find with other third-party applications.
Add to all this the popularity of headphones at present, and Teac has also ensured that the AI-101DA will deliver a top-notch headphone listening experience with a 100mW output, which will quite happily drive a wide range of headphones, including high impedance models.
USB DAC for High-resolution Audio Streaming
The main unit employs a USB Audio Input that allows users to connect to a computer and process high-resolution audio of up to 192kHz/24-bit by an on-board D/A converter, PCM1796 by BurrBrown. The asynchronous connection minimizes jitter noise generated by the computer, while the up-conversion function refines incoming digital audio to make it as smooth as possible, even from CD-based audio tracks.
Massive Sound Performance
As the heart of the audio system, the main unit employs a class-D power amplifier that delivers 26W + 26W of output from a bible size cabinet. When the HR Loudness – a DSP-based bass enhancement technology – is active, the amplifier delivers a stunning bass enhancement signal for small speakers. The HR Loudness is effective for an analog line-in signal as well, by converting to a 96kHz/24-bit digital audio signal that is of high-resolution audio quality.
Compact Aluminum Body
The AI-101DA’s bible-sized body made of aluminum enables a convertible layout, horizontal or vertical, while TEAC’s iconic side guard bars give a professional finish. As users’ demands for high-quality headphone listening increase, TEAC have responded by including 100mW + 100mW of headphone output in the AI-101DA main unit to enable it to drive a wider range of headphones, including high impedance models.
High-resolution Audio Playback
TEAC supplies high-resolution audio playback software for both Windows and Macintosh. Allowing users to enjoy high-resolution audio without complicated settings that may occur with third-party applications.
High Quality Wireless Audio
The main unit supports Bluetooth wireless audio streaming with an aptX codec. Users can transmit high-quality audio wirelessly from their smartphone to the AI-101DA.
Five Audio Inputs
Specifically designed for audio streaming from a computer or smartphone, the main unit carries a USB audio input and Bluetooth connection. However, it also carries a pair of optical audio inputs and a conventional analog audio input in a 1/8″ jack.
Auto Power Saving
The AI-101DA provides a simple and smart way of the power-on/off sequence when you watch TV. Thanks to its Auto Power Saving function, the AI-101DA automatically turns on when an incoming digital audio signal is detected, and vice versa ¬ it automatically turns off when the incoming digital audio signal is inactive for 3 minutes. The Auto Power Saving function can be engaged or disabled by user preference.
