The smallest model in Rega’s latest speaker series

The previous version, RS1, proved enormously popular among both hi-fi enthusiasts and the dreaded ‘furnishing ministers’ around the living rooms. The Rega RX, or RX ONE as Rega also calls it, picks up on the legacy of the RS1 with a somewhat identical form factor, but slightly larger and with completely new units. The bass-midrange unit is a completely newly developed construction from Rega. The DX-125 unit is made of compressed paper and fits perfectly with the newly developed treble unit, Rega ZZR. The cabinet is made of a strong 18mm. MDF covered with real wood veneer and equipped with a bass reflex port.

The Rega RX1 can, and we recommend, be placed on a dedicated speaker stand or on a shelf or bookcase. If this is not possible, the Rega RX1 can also be wall hung. Wall bracket sold separately. With a sensitivity of 89dB, the Rega RX1 is a relatively easy-to-drive speaker. Rega itself recommends an amplifier of between 30 and 500w. Then there is probably plenty of opportunity to find a proper partner for it.

The Rega RX ONE and the rest of the new RX series from Rega are delivered in three different finishes. All are covered with real wood veneer and are available in black ash, a light cherry, and a nice, dark walnut. With the Rega RX1, it seems that Rega has once again created a loudspeaker that, at a reasonable price, delivers a high performance, which especially comes into its own when the rest of the equipment also comes from the English hi-fi manufacturer. Combine it with a Rega Brio amplifier for a compact, serious, and good-sounding mini-system.
