Acoustic Energy AE105

The AE105 is the latest addition to the all-new 100 Series. A versatile, 2-way loudspeaker primarily designed for wall mounting, the AE105 is equally suited to a bookcase or shelf position.

The AE105 utilises a soft dome tweeter with WDT wave guide, along with two 130mm paper cone drivers, one acting as a passive radiator for improved bass performance. Optimised for vertical wall mounting with the listening position at or below the tweeter axis, the AE105 can be used to simply enhance the stereo sound from your TV, or as Front L/R, Centre and Surround channel speakers within multi-channel home cinema systems… whilst partnered with the matching AE108 compact sub-woofer.

Finished in a choice of black, white or walnut vinyl veneers, they are supplied with rear mounting plates, template, wall spacers, black and light grey grilles for easy integration within any room décor.

TWEETER

Acoustic Energy’s bespoke 25mm soft dome tweeter was designed in tandem with the 100 Series bass driver to offer optimum integration and tonal matching. Paired with our Wide Dispersion Technology waveguide, the crossover region between drive units is audibly seamless whilst the high-power neodymium motor assembly ensures reliable, distortion-free high-volume playback.

DRIVERS

The 130mm bass/mid driver used in the 100 Series has been developed with a high-power, long excursion motor to provide satisfying volume levels and bass extension from relatively compact enclosures. The doped paper cone enables a higher crossover point for smoother mid-range and seamless crossover with the tweeter, creating extremely high fidelity, detailed and above all musical sound reproduction.

CABINET

The 100 Series uses thin, 15mm high-density (HDF) enclosures with carefully tuned bracing, reducing harmful resonances whilst retaining body and substance from compact, practical cabinets. The rear slot porting* enhances smooth bass extension with minimal room impact, allowing easy placement. The AE109² and AE120² feature inert mass-loading for additional stability and acoustic damping; all models come supplied with slim magnetic grilles.

The new 100 Series introduces a plethora of evolutionary improvements focused on refining the listening experience. All models (aside from AE108² Subwoofer) feature our WDT (Wide Dispersion Tweeter) waveguide for improved dispersion, now taking cues from our 500 Series, with mid/bass drivers moved closer to the tweeter. The drive units are all-new and designed in tandem to offer seamless integration along with improved response and power handling. Slot ports to the rear of each cabinet reduce chuffing & distortion, thanks to a new, tooled vent to further smooth airflow. Finally, as a first at this price point, the 100 Series uses HDF (High Density Fibreboard) construction to allow thinner cabinet walls with no loss in mass or stiffness – the result is larger internal volume providing deeper bass response for minimal external size increase.
