Description

Expand the audio immersion of your home theater by adding this pair of Reference R-40SA Dolby Atmos Add-On Speakers from Klipsch. Supporting Dolby Atmos, the R-40SA speakers can be used on top of any monitor or tower speaker, such as the Klipsch R-600F or R-800F, to add two dedicated height channels to your setup. This will project sound upwards, expanding the dimensions of your surround sound to effects that are seemingly above your head. You also have the option of using them as dedicated surround speakers. Either way, audio should sound powerful, clean, and natural, thanks to Klipsch’s 90 x 90° Tractrix Horn, 1″ LTS aluminum tweeter with Kapton suspension, and a 4″ spun-copper TCP woofer in each speaker.

90 x 90° Tractrix Horn

The Tractrix Horn has large dimensions for directivity control, resulting in improved high-end and a more accurate soundstage. The Tractrix Horn is also mated to the 1″ aluminum LTS tweeter within each speaker.

LTS Aluminum Tweeter with Kapton Suspension

Using a linear travel suspension (LTS), the 1″ tweeter’s highs are transmitted with minimal distortion for increased detail. The aluminum construction is lightweight, yet rigid, to further improve audio detail and deliver improved sonic resolution.

TCP Woofer
Borrowing technology from Klipsch’s Reference Premiere line, each R-40SA speaker utilizes spun-copper thermoformed crystalline polymer (TCP) for the 4″ woofer. This aligns the cone at a steeper angle for better accuracy and transparency, along with a smoother response. This is in addition to ribbing being added for better rigidity, which ultimately results in less cone breakup at higher frequencies.

Solid Construction

The smooth and sleek black textured wood grain vinyl exterior of each speaker is supported by a solid, reinforced 3/4″ MDF with updated bracing. This robust construction helps reduce vibration. Not only are the frames durable, but even the vinyl exterior is also scratch-resistant. This can give the pair of R-40SA speakers a long lease on life as part of your home theater sound system.
