Klipsch RP-404C II Center Channel Speaker

    • The Klipsch RP-404C II is a high-performance center channel speaker from Klipsch’s Reference Premiere II series, designed to deliver crystal-clear dialogue, vocals, and center-front detail even in demanding home theater setups. Featuring a sealed, shallow-depth cabinet that allows flexible placement—including in tight spaces or above fireplace mantles—this speaker houses four 4-inch Cerametallic™ cone woofers and a 1-inch Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) titanium tweeter mounted to a larger 90° × 90° hybrid Tractrix® horn. The sealed, internally braced MDF enclosure reduces bass loading and rear wall issues, while added features like aluminum binding posts, magnetically attached grille, and furniture-grade finish (Ebony or Walnut) round out a design that’s as refined visually as it is acoustically. With a sensitivity of 94 dB and a power handling of 125 W RMS (500 W peak), the RP-404C II delivers strong performance with efficiency, making it capable of keeping up with powerful front L/R speakers without being overdriven. The frequency response spans approximately 87 Hz to 25 kHz (±3 dB), ensuring vocal articulation and high-frequency clarity, while its depth of only about 16.4 cm (~6.5") and a width of ~68.2 cm make it reasonably sized for a center channel in many home theater arrangements.

90 x 90° Silicon Composite Hybrid Tractrix Horn

Klipsch’s proprietary Tractrix geometry in the horn is specifically crafted to efficiently transfer the high frequencies of the tweeter to the listener. This second-generation Tractrix horn is larger for better directivity and a wider overall soundstage. The Tractrix horn can accomplish this level of audio fidelity and smooth frequency response by being combined with a phase plug and a compressed molded silicon face.

LTS Titanium Diaphragm Tweeter

Part of Klipsch’s Reference line, the LTS (Linear Travel Suspension) works to minimize distortion for more detailed audio reproduction.

Vented Tweeter Design

The housing of the tweeter in this pair of bookshelf speakers clarifies the high-frequency signal by reducing standing waves that would otherwise create unwanted harmonics.

Cerametallic Woofer
Another signature aspect of Klipsch’s Reference Premiere speakers is the Cerametallic woofers. This bookshelf speaker is equipped with a single 5.25″ woofer, and the Cerametallic construction keeps it lightweight, yet rigid, to both maximize acoustic efficiency and minimize distortion. In the second generation, voice coils are 70% larger in diameter to ensure flawless reproduction with better power handling, cone control, and linearity. The addition of aluminum shorting rings adds to the improved power handling and lower distortion, while the motor structure itself improves the transit response and adds more control with increased speed and improved accuracy.

Tractrix Ports
If you prefer a deeper bass from your speakers, the integrated ports of the RP-500M II utilize Klipsch’s Tractrix geometry to produce clean and punchy low-end frequencies. The geometry allows the air to quickly and efficiently exit the speaker, which also reduces port noise. Customized inner flares further lower noise by reducing air turbulence entering the port.

Improved Input Panel
The RP-500M II features audiophile-grade wiring and easily accessible aluminum binding posts for any connection type.

Premium Construction
Klipsch uses internally braced furniture-grade MDF for a durable and attractive appearance. The ebony vinyl finish includes satin-painted baffles that have a scratch-resistant coating.

Magnetic Grille
You have the option of exposing the copper-colored woofer and tweeter or covering them up with a discrete speaker grille. The grille magnetically attaches to the front of the RP-500M II.

Cork Pads
Replacing typical rubber bumpers are cork pads works to protect the surfaces of a stand or table.
